Johanna Bonner Obituary

Johanna Eleonore Bonner

Johanna Eleonore Bonner, 84, left this life on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 and went to be with our Lord and Savior.

Johanna was born January 27, 1928, in Germany to the late George and Katharine Mikloweit. Johanna met the love of her life James Ernest Bonner while he was serving in the Army in Germany and after a long courtship they were married on November 15, 1957. This union was blessed with six children, five sons and a daughter.

In 1958, Johanna left Germany and joined her husband in Seaside, California where they raised their family. Johanna worked for many years as a housekeeper in the Carmel and Carmel Valley area. Johanna was lovingly known as "Oma, Mom or Grandma" to most who came in contact with her.

Johanna loved the Lord and was a parishioner at the St. Francis Xavier Church in Seaside.

Johanna had a passion for flowers, plants and gardens. She made a yearly trip to the Los Angeles area to go to the Oktober Fest to enjoy her German heritage. While there she would also go to the Arboretum to enjoy the beautiful gardens. Johanna enjoyed playing cards or dominoes with family. But, most of all, Johanna loved her family - her husband, children, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of others she considered "family." Johanna had a loving spirit and everyone that met her loved her. Her spirit will remain with us and she will be missed by all who loved her.

Johanna leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James; children, Andrew (Anita), Charles (Ann), George (Judi), Laura Ann (Carlton) Ikner-Price, Ernest (Carsie), and Robert (April); grandchildren, John, Anthony, Marie, Jeremy, Lonetta, Brian, Christie, Thomas (T.J.), Ernest, Jr., Johanna, Michael (Duncan), LaToya, Carsie (Pashell), Cassandra and Tatyana; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m., at Seaside Funeral Home, 1915 Ord Grove Ave., Seaside with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Church in Seaside; and Burial will follow at Mission Memorial Park, Seaside.

In lieu of flowers, you can send a contribution to Heartland Hospice Services, 2511 Garden Road, No. B200, Monterey, CA 93940.

Arrangements by Seaside Funeral Home, 1915 Ord Grove Ave. Condolences may be written to the family at: www.seasidefunerals.com.
