Theresa Giottonini
Theresa Giottonini, 97, of Salinas, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2013. "Gram" born Theresa Urquides on February 27, 1916 in Salinas, was one of 10 children of James and Victoria Urquides.
She attended local schools but during high school moved to Soledad to help her ill sister raise her seven children. She graduated from Gonzales High in 1935. She worked for Dr. and Mrs. Wiebe as a nanny for their two sons and got to travel with the family as part of her job. After a 10 year courtship, she married Walter Giottonini in April 1944 and had two daughters. Both daughters attended Sacred Heart School and Palma High School and she was very involved in all their school activities including Brownies and Girls Scouts.
She worked for Elaine's Letter Shop, did lots of babysitting and then worked as a home health care provider for several seniors (some of them younger than her). In her retirement, she became very active in the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Heart Association and Corral de Tierra Grange. She was also a member of the Monterey County Swiss American Club.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter Giottonini and nine sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Alice Giottonini and Beverly (Roger) Wiseman; granddaughter, Cindy Hatch (Carson Utz); grandson, Jeff Shaw; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There was more joy in the heart of this wonderful lady than any heart should be able to hold. She added so much to the lives of all who were lucky enough to know her. It is said, that death leaves a heartache that no one can steal but love leaves a memory no one can steal. Memory is now a treasure.

Grama you will be missed and the memories will never be forgotten.love to all the family.
from Clare Harner Lyon:
Do not stand at my grave and weep;I am not there,I do not sleep.I am a thousand winds that blow,I am the diamond glints on the snow.I am the sunlight on ripened grain.I am the gentle autumn's rain.when you awaken in the morning's hush,I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.I am the soft stars that shine at night.do not stand at my grave and cry.I am not there.I did not die.
