Dovie LouEllen (Mimi) Pemberton April 1941 - May 2016 Manteca Dovie LouEllen (Mimi) Pemberton, 75, of Manteca, passed away May 2016. She was born in Salinas. Mimi was greeted at heavens gates by her parents, Owen and Marion Key; her brother, Owen D. Key, and her son, Owen Brian Pemberton. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Keith Pemberton; her brother, Pete Key; her five children, Keitha Hughes, Keith (Rocky) Pemberton, Dovie (Michelle) Carl, Pete Pemberton, and Prissy Martin; her 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Thank you our beautiful angel Mimi for always putting us family first and teaching us all the ways of the Lord. You were the rock of the family and I know you will continue to be so up in heaven. We will cherish you forever and always until we meet again.... Always remember we all love you, but Jesus loves you more! Perez, Josephine M.  
Josephine M. Perez March 19, 1920 - May 16, 2016 Union City Josephine M. Perez, 96, died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lupe and Robert Gonzales, in Union City. She was born in Columbus, New Mexico and raised in Arizona. She raised her three children and cared for her mother in Salinas. Surviving are her daughter, Lupe (Robert) Gonzales and son, Felix (Norma) Galaviz; daughter-in-law, Rosie Leon; her sister, Margie (Gabino) Martinez. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Manuel Leon; sisters, Sarah Cortez, Elvira Burrell, Ysidra Ruiz, Eva Betancourt, and her brother, Pete S. Mier. Visitation will be held from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, with a Rosary vigil at 7 p.m., all at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22 Stone St., Salinas, CA 93901. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907. Following all services a Celebration of Life will commence at 12 noon at the American Legion Post 31, 14 West Laurel Drive, Salinas, CA 93906. John E. Phillips Nov. 5, 1952 - May 2, 2016 Salinas John E. Phillips, 63, passed Monday, May 2, 2016. He was born Nov. 5, 1952 in Moulton, AL, the son of Myron and Lucille Phillips. John is survived by his wife, Fern; two children, Alicia and Chad; sisters, Edna McCurrach and Elaine Durham; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016, at St. George's Episcopal Church, 98 Kip Dr., Salinas, opposite North Salinas High School.
