Adrian Joseph (Joe) Leavitt, 92, of Salinas, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital with his children at his side. He was born Nov. 3, 1921, in Los Angeles.
Joe was employed in the agriculture industry most of his working life. He served in both accounting and purchasing roles for Inter Harvest/Sun Harvest/Sun World in both Salinas and Bakersfield and retired at the age of 77.

While devoted to his family and his Catholic faith, he also thoroughly enjoyed traveling the world, fishing, golfing, skiing, photographing nature, camping, tending to his fruit trees, good food and wine, playing bridge, walking Monterey beaches, and watching the crops growing in the fields and rooting for his grandchildren at their sporting events.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Sandra Norma Leavitt, who passed away in 1996.
He is survived by his brother, Fred Leavitt of Exeter; his daughters, Elaine Leavitt of Jakarta, Indonesia and Ann (Mike) Briley of Salinas, and his son, Steve (Kim) Leavitt of Salinas. I was privileged to work under Joe at Inter Harvest/Sun Harvest for many years. Even though he was a stickler for detail and you had to balance the journals to the penny I will always be grateful to him for the many things I learned, the confidence he had in me and his caring attitude.
My sincere condolences to all of his family, I am sure you will miss him. He was a wonderful man.

I played Bridge with Joe at the Monterey Bridge Ceneter. Even though we were not regular partners, I always was pleased to be paired with him. I enjoyed his company and he was so pleasant to spend a day with as we competed for top boards! My sincere condolences to his family. I will miss him. Beth Ege
