Bernice K. Benadom

Bernice K. Benadom, 91, lifelong resident of Monterey County, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 5, 2013, with family by her side. She was born July 22, 1921, in Soledad.

Bernice proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After the service, she enjoyed being a homemaker for more than 65 years. Her and Dewey brought up the children camping and traveling, which makes for many good memories. Bernice loved having her children and grandchildren close by, because they would make her laugh. She loved telling jokes. Bernice especially loved attending the First United Methodist Church and the fellowship with her church family.

She is survived by her daughters, Vivian (Kevin) Hunt and Elaine Benadom, all of Salinas; son, Dennis (Priscilla) Benadom of Trona; sister, Leanna (Jim) Davis of Yreka; grandchildren, Angie Gilliam, Verne, Greg, James and Erik Benadom; along with two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Katherine Harder; and her brother, Leroy "Buzzy" Harder.

Funeral services with Military Honors will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 9, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church, 404 Lincoln St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Burial will take place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bernice's memory to VNA/Hospice of Monterey, Salvation Army of Salinas, or the First United Methodist Church of Salinas.
