Betty Lou (Asper) Bell

Betty Lou (Asper) Bell, 77, of Prunedale, passed away peacefully Friday, January 23, 2013. She was born March 23, 1935, in Compton and grew up in Riverside.

Betty was a member of California Nursing Association. She worked as an RN at CHOMP and primarily at Windsor Garden Rehabilitation Center of Salinas (of a different name back then) until she retired in the latter 1980's. She kept her nursing license current until near death. She attended Grace Community Church of Prunedale. She enjoyed knitting and other crafts and used it to minister to the homeless, family and friends. Her other interests were gardening, drawing and music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Helen Asper of Riverside; brother, Ellis Asper of Riverside; sister, Verla Zimmerman of San Diego; and newborn daughter, Julie Bell.

Betty is survived by her son, Ronald Lee Bell (Laura) of Prunedale; daughter, Melody Ann Weaver (Mike) of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Kayleen Jasperse (Scott) of Jenison, MI, Jaclyn Kerkstra (Kevin) of Wyoming, MI, and Kevin Bell of Prunedale; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Alexis and Lydia Jasperse; sister-in-law, Kathleen Williams (Jim); brother-in-law, John Zimmerman; cousins, Everett, Sylvia and Jean, and others; nieces and nephews, Nancy and Drew, Colleen, Kelly and John.

There will be a Memorial service Sunday, February 17, 2013 at 4 p.m., at Grace Community Church, 750 Paradise Road, Prunedale, CA 93907.
