Sue Schriver Payne

Carolyn 'Sue' Schriver Payne, 67, of Modesto, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013. She was born August 18, 1946 in Salinas, where she lived until 1996.

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her knew that she was always larger than life. She had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was extremely contagious. No one could tell a joke like she could. She would and did do just about anything for a laugh. She never met a stranger and could strike up a great conversation with anyone at anytime. To say she was a 'people person' would be an understatement; however, nothing meant more to her than her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She left us suddenly and way too soon thanks to the ugly disease we know as cancer. She was so loved and will be greatly missed by all…ALWAYS!

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Edward Payne; her children, Jamie Sackett of Modesto, Dean Haverland of Modesto, Olivia Westerfield of Fresno and Erik Payne of Bakersfield; her brothers, Carl Schriver of Kalispell, MT, Bill Schriver of Salinas, Danny Schriver of Salinas and her sister, Joanna Reynolds of Modesto. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 from 2 to 7 p.m., in Modesto, at the VFW Post 3199 located at 2801 W. Hatch Road. Please join us in celebrating the wonderful life of Sue Payne.
