Donald W. Painter, Sr.
Donald W. Painter, Sr., 79, longtime resident of Salinas, passed in his sleep with his wife at his side on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, after a brief illness. He was born July 8, 1933, in Hannibal, Missouri.
Donald liked golfing and working with wood. He drove his own race cars in his younger days and then enjoyed watching races later in life. He loved to bake pies and make fudge "divinity". Donald always made sure his family stayed and played together, especially with family gatherings. Donald will remain in our hearts, until we meet again.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Maria Guadalupe Painter of Salinas; daughters, Judy Painter and Sandra (Mike) Montoya, all of Coalinga; son, Donald W. (Rhonda) Painter, Jr., of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Tina, Daniella, Jacob, Holly, Sandra, A.J., Nicholas, Amanda, Michelle, Matthew, Michael and Kaden; great-grandchildren, Dennis, Jennifer, Christopher, Isaiah, Kristian, Holly, Ryan, Kameron, Cadence, Riley, Sabin, and Aubrey; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Hazel Painter; son, Leonardo Espinoza; brothers, Dwight, Kenneth and Howard Painter; and sisters, Doris Lunden and Elnora Painter.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 1 to 9 p.m. and also Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 1 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary recital at 7 p.m., all at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
A Funeral Mass will take place Monday, January 14, 2013 at 10 a.m., at the St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 424 Towt St., Salinas, CA 93905.
Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
