Doris Helen Vincenz
Doris Helen Vincenz, of Salinas, passed away on the morning of May 7, 2013, after an amazing life of 102 years. She was born November 23, 1910, in Gonzales to the late George and Bertha Richardson.
Doris attended Salinas High School and Dominican College, where she made and carried many friendships through her life.
Doris married the late Gale Vincenz and became the center of a large and loving family. She was the acknowledged family host, storyteller, gift-giver, and adventurous traveler, with an opinion on everything! She was a bridge partner, avid shopper, teller of jokes, lover of dogs, and charter member of the Corral de Tierra Grange. Her love for "Bad Dog" Parker as family royalty was completely consistent with her strong will and opinions.
She is survived by her brother, George Richardson and sister, Jean Quinlan; her daughter and son-in-law, Georgialynn and Sam Eastman; four grandchildren, Brent and Maureen Eastman, Brian and Casey Riddell, Tim and Alex Eastman and Halley Eastman, all of whom she adored; and 12 incredible great-grandchildren. The family expresses eternal gratitude to Alai Nau for her constant love and care in Doris's later years.
Doris will be missed for her strong will, love, and indomitable spirit, and for the outrageous laughter she could engender. In accordance with her refusal to grieve, she requested no services be conducted.
In lieu of flowers, that any remembrances be directed to her friends at Peace of Mind Dog Rescue in Pacific Grove, P.O. Box 51554, Pacific Grove, CA 93950.
