Duane William Jefferson
Duane William Jefferson, 55, of Modesto and formerly of Castroville, passed away Friday, January 24, 2014, of natural causes in Modesto. He was born March 7, 1958, in Carmel, the son of Martin and Dorothy Jefferson.
After high school, he joined the Marines, serving 1975 to 1979. He was employed by the Jefferson family farm before moving to Modesto in 2008. Duane enjoyed playing cribbage and riding his Harley Davidson. He was a dedicated fan of the San Francisco '49ers football team and Giants baseball team.
He is survived by his son, Duane Joseph Jefferson of Salinas and his daughter, Dorothy Jefferson Mojica (Jorge) Cadenas of Kapolei, HI; his mother, Dorothy Jefferson of Salinas; brothers, Benny (Donna) Jefferson of King City, Jay (Janet) Jefferson of Salinas, Allan Jefferson of Salinas; sister-in-law, Terri of Salinas; his sister, Marlene Jefferson of Paso Robles; step-daughters, Frances Gonzalez of Hanford, Monica Saldivar-Ahern of S. Carolina, Dora Montes of California, Irene Morales of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Isaac Mojica, Anastasia Cadenas, Xavier and Niah Jefferson; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces.
Duane was preceded in death by his wife, Christina; his father, Martin; brother, Marvin; son-in-law, Jonathan Mojica; brother-in-law, Larry Mayfield; grandparents, Walter and Elizabeth Jefferson and Ben and Mae Heinrichs.
The family will be having a private burial.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, in the Rodeo Room at the Salinas Sports Complex.
