Eligio L. Tunzi

Eligio L. Tunzi, 97, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully Friday, April 19, 2013, at Eden Valley Care Center in Soledad.

A native of Lodano, Switzerland, Eligio moved to Greenfield with his family in 1929. He worked in farming and was a custodian and bus driver for the Greenfield Union School District for many years.

A self taught renaissance man, he played the mandolin, grafted trees, painted, and made beautiful wood carvings. Eligio was quiet, honest, humble, and thrifty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Giosia and Gelsomina Tunzi; sister, Gina Mattei; brother, Emilio Tunzi.

He is survived by brother, Frank Tunzi of Greenfield; sister, Massimilla Tunzi of Soledad; nephew, Dr. Marc Tunzi and family of Salinas.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Greenfield, followed with burial at the Greenfield Holy Trinity Cemetery.
