Helen A. Niemela
Helen Alice Niemela, 80, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013, in Salinas. Helen was born March 20, 1932, in Dade County, MO and had lived in Monterey County for the past 75 years.
Helen was a beloved wife and mother and loved cooking for her family. She also enjoyed gardening and reading. Helen was a caring and loving person who adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and always put family first. She was a faithful member of the Full Gospel Church of Las Lomas. Helen will be greatly missed, but will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
Helen is survived by her husband, Thomas Niemela of the family home; daughter, Margaret (Gene) Erta of Magalia; sons, Frank Keldson of Salinas and Bill Keldson of Magalia; a sister, Denzil Knutson of Watsonville and her brothers, Ray Jennings of Watsonville and Lloyd Jennings of Hollister. She also leaves eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Frances Bethany; and her sister, Dorothy Hacker
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 2:30 p.m., at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas.
