Maria de Jesus Ramirez
Maria de Jesus Ramirez, 73, of Salinas, entered into eternal peace Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at her home. Maria was born Feb. 14, 1941 in San Juan de Los Lagos, México, to Vicente and Justina Solorzano.
On Jan. 9, 1957, she married her lifelong sweetheart, Jose Socorro Ramirez in Mexico. They made their home in Moss Landing where they raised eight children. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She cherished her family and instilled lifelong values that will live on from generation to generation. She was a woman of strong devotion to God and her Catholic faith. She loved spoiling her children and grandchildren to a fault. She always had a positive outlook and her smile brought comfort to all who knew her. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, operas, plays, and baseball games, especially when her grandchildren were playing. She was an avid traveler, having visited places such as Japan, Spain, Germany, Austria, and many places throughout Mexico; but her favorite places were Maui, Lucerne, and Disneyland.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Socorro and is survived by her six sons and two daughters: son John (Ofelia) Ramirez, son Gerry (Vicky) Ramirez, daughter Teresa Cesena, son Carlos (Debby) Ramirez, daughter Irma (Ken) Bough, son Art Ramirez, son Victor (Wendy) Ramirez, son Jesse (Ana Maria) Ramirez; 21 grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love. She will be dearly missed.
