Maria "Maya" V. Johnson
Maria "Maya" V. Johnson, 34, lifelong resident of Salinas, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013 in Salinas, with family by her side. She was born December 30, 1978, in Salinas.
Maria graduated from North Salinas High School in 1997. She worked as a Service Manager in fire protection for nine years. Maria grew up in Salinas all her life and had many friends. She was a die-hard Raider's fan and enjoyed tailgating with her family and friends. She loved dancing, trying different recipes and the outdoors. Maria will be most remembered for her throw-down BBQ's. Maria was a happy, outgoing person who made everyone laugh and lit up a room with her smile when she walked in. Most of all, Maria loved her kids dearly.
Maria is survived by her children; sons, Angel Campa and Oscar Valdez, Jr.; daughter, Ariyana Arizpe; love of 12 years, Oscar Valdez; parents, Kelvin and Ebby Johnson; grandparents, Mary and Roy Forbes; brother, Kelvin Johnson Jr.; sister, Victoria (Cedric) Jones; along with many uncles, aunties, cousins and other loving relatives.
Memorial services will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11 a.m., at the Healey Mortuary Chapel, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
