Molly Kaoru Yoshimaru

Molly Kaoru Yoshimaru, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 97 years old.

Molly was born in Los Angeles, to Kikutaro and Shikano Yoshihara, immigrants from Japan. Molly attended Los Angeles schools and became a hairdresser. She married her husband, James (Lanky) Yoshimaru and moved to the Watsonville area and started farming strawberries. They moved to North Monterey County area to continue farming until her husband's passing in 1980.

Molly was an avid bingo player and could often be seen staking her favorite spot at the local bingo parlors. In her later years, she enjoyed gardening, her cats, Abbott, Annie and Bella and the warmth of the sun shining on her face. She was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Japanese American Citizens League.

Molly is survived by her son, Russell (Kathy) Yoshimaru; grandchildren, Russell Jr. and Amy and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Tyler and Alexa. She also leaves numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thank you to her caregivers, Diane, Alai, Sela and VNA & Hospice. Their loving in-home care and support are much appreciated.

At her request, no services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions can be made to the Central Coast VNA & Hospice, P.O. Box 2480, Monterey, CA 93942 or the donor's favorite charity.
