After serving in the Korean War
, Bob graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in ornamental horticulture. He was employed by Soilserv, Inc. until his retirement in 1990.

Bob counted his hiking group and his dogs, Casey and Marcy, as some of his greatest joys in life, along with traveling abroad and within the United States with Judy by his side. Bob loved to go birding and be on the lookout for whooping cranes, snow geese and the whole range of shore birds throughout the central California sanctuaries, and he could identify most of them. Bob went to Moss Landing and Kirby Landing at least twice weekly, always with one of his dogs in tow. Johnny Trayford was usually along for the ride as well.
Bob also enjoyed visiting railroads and different air fields in search of the old World War II
airplanes. And of course, he knew ALL the best restaurants in Monterey County.
Bob was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of the Monterey Peninsula.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Emeritus Senior Living for their loving care.
