Dr. Roy Emil
Dr. Roy Emil Kuechenmeister went to be with our Lord and savior on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the age of 83. He was born March 28, 1929 in St. Louis, MO, to Walter and Estella Kuechenmeister.
He graduated from Washington University, St. Louis in 1950 and then went on to receive his DDS from St. Louis University in 1955. Roy served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy
Dental Corps for two years in San Diego and was in the naval reserves until 1965. He married the love of his life, Jeanette, in June of 1954 in St. Louis, MO. They moved to Salinas in 1958 and opened his dental practice in 1959.
Roy was a life-long learner and had a deep passion for his profession and his patients. He retired in 1999 after 40 years of practice. Before retiring, he was a member of Salinas Northeast Rotary Club
. His hobbies included golfing, fishing, boating, traveling and photography. After retirement, be became a passionate gardener and always had a jigsaw puzzle going that he enjoyed doing with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his youngest son, David Kuechenmeister.
Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jeanette; his children, Pamela (Steve) Hastey of Seaside, Linda (Joseph) Kaslin of Salinas and son, Tom Kuechenmeister of Grand Haven, MI. He adored his grandchildren, Nick Kaslin of Hawaii, Alyssa (Trenton) Marsh of Lockford, Brittany Kaslin of Mt. View, Elizabeth Kuechenmeister of Michigan; step-grandchildren, Hayley Jones of Nashville, TN and Aaron Hastey of Spokane, WA; and one great-granddaughter, McKenzie. He also leaves behind his sister, Joan Martin of St. Louis, MO and nephews.
He was adored, loved and appreciated by his children.
