Thomas Lynn Duer
Thomas Lynn Duer passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, following a lengthy illness. He was born June 27, 1945, in Springfield, Ohio. He moved to Salinas in 1974 with his family where he lived until the time of his passing.
Thomas served in the U.S. Navy
and was a Vietnam veteran. He graduated from Hartnell College in 1976 with a degree in Drafting and Design and worked as a mechanical designer for a variety of companies in Silicon Valley. In addition to the many interesting projects he worked on during his career, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking road trips to Nevada, Oregon, and Washington.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judy Duer; his daughters, Tracy Notman (Rob) of Stafford, VA and Karie Duer-Sandoval (Richard) of Salinas; his brothers, Richard Duer (Cheryl) of Rapid City, SD and Raymond Duer (Cynthia) of Sparks, NV; and his grandchildren, Rebecca Notman of San Jose, Garrett Notman, a U.S. Marine currently stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC and Briana Sandoval of Salinas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
