Todd Deaner, 58, a long time resident of Santa Cruz, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 at his home. He was born September 30, 1954 in Salinas, to the late Forrest E. Deaner and Lois Laura Deaner; he was the second of seven children.
Todd graduated from North Salinas High School in 1972. He attended Hartnell Community College in Salinas. Todd was awarded his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology degree from University of California, Santa Cruz. He worked for many years as an electrician serving the Santa Cruz - San Jose area. He valued his clients and always gave them the best value for their money. His clientele grew and he established his own company, Deaner Electric. His clients spoke very highly of his work, always maintaining the integrity and quality of his work and at the same time he was flexible, and adaptable to their requirements.
Todd had a deep love for the ocean. He enjoyed fishing with his father and brother. As a growing teenager, he spent his summers with his late grandmother, Florence Croffut in Nescopeck, Pennsylvania, where he enjoyed the open fields.
Todd was a loving and generous gentleman. He would extend a helping hand to friends and family, never expecting anything in return. He was a loyal friend to many.
Todd is survived by his mother, Lois Laura Deaner; his sisters, Cheryl Ann Wilson and her husband Larry Wilson, Suzanne Prevatt, Hali Lynn Woods and her husband Mike Woods, Monique Deaner; his brother, Greg Deaner; his nieces, Kimberly Osborne, Adlanta Zubiate, Laura Prevatt; nephews, Jason Skinner, Andrew Turnbull, Trenton Moore, Stephen Prevatt, Cory Prevatt, and Christopher Prevatt; and his stepmom, Norma Deaner. He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest E. Deaner, and his sister, Terrie Kenvin.
Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 1:30 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 900 High St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060.
