Linda Cobos Ramirez

Linda Cobos Ramirez, 65, long time resident of Castroville, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012, after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ramirez was born December 1, 1946 in Fresno, to Saulo and Inocencia Cobos.

She attended school in Watsonville, including Watsonville High. On August 14, 1966, she married her beloved husband, Joe Ramirez. Mrs. Ramirez worked as an Instructional Aide for the N. Monterey County Unified School District for 37 years, retiring only a couple years ago. She loved going to casinos and playing video poker. She was a spontaneous traveler and enjoyed driving to Reno, Tahoe and other destinations at a moment's notice. She was quite the hostess and loved to cook for her family, host dinner parties, and loved having friends and family over for company. Her family will forever remember her love and compassion for all. She had a gift for making people feel special.

Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her husband of 46 years, Joe Ramirez; her sons, Joey Ramirez of Castroville, Jacob (Grace) Ramirez of Watsonville, and Samuel Ramirez of Tempe, AZ; her brothers, Angel (Frannie), Frank (Olivia), Rico (Rosie), Merced (Sheila), David, and Phillip (Idie) Cobos; her sisters, Saula "Julie" (Rudy) Ramirez and Patsy (Oscar) Quintana; and her grandson, Gilbert Valenzuela Ramirez.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Saulo and Inocencia Cobos; her brothers, Arthur, Rudy, and Anthony Cobos; and her sister, Rebecca Marabilla.

Visitation will be held at Mehl's Colonial Chapel on Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 5 to 9 p.m.; with a Recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 10, 2012, at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Refuge Parish, 11140 Preston St., Castroville; with Burial to follow at the Castroville Public Cemetery in Moss Landing.

Arrangements: Mehl's Colonial Chapel, 831-724-6371.

Joe and Sons:
I know there are no words one can say
that will alleviate your suffering during this painful time. Those of us who knew Linda are saddened by her passing. She was special - Linda personified love, kindness, and grace. She was an excellent teacher who touched so many childrens' lives. She will not be forgotten. When a loved one dies, they take so much a part of our past. What can make our loss bearable is to cling to the memory of their love for us: And Linda's life and
love was centered on each one of you. May Our Lord sustain you during this most painful of times.
