Benjamin Turner, 73, born June 17, 1939 in Boligee AL, entered into heaven on Sunday, December 23, 2012. He lived the past 32 years in Salinas. Accepting Christ at 13 began his active church life, from the church of his youth to his current First Baptist Church, Pacific Grove. He studied at Julliard School in NYC, graduated from Alabama State University, earned a master's degree from Fresno State University, earned a California State Contractor's License. Ben owned and operated Turner Construction throughout Monterey County for 35 years. He played string bass in the Monterey County Symphony Orchestra in the 70's.
Benjamin is survived by his wife Julia of 38 years and their two sons and families; Seth (Nancy) and grandson Demitri; Paul (Rosa) and granddaughters Damaris and Solanna; from a previous marriage, son Benjamin Jr. and daughter Wendy four sisters, Ella George, Emma (Joe) Henderson, Susie and Ruby Turner; two brothers, Bill and Robert Turner; and extended family.
Preceding him in death were mother Mary Turner, father Billie Turner, sister Eula Porter, and mother-in-law Della Abdelaziz.
On Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10am Viewing will take place prior to a Celebration of Life at 11am all at the First Baptist Church 246 Laurel Avenue Pacific Grove, CA 93950.
Burial to follow services at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery 18200 Damian Way Salinas CA 93907.
