Charlie Franklin Garber

Charlie "Bud" Franklin Garber, 77, of Salinas, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013. He was born November 19, 1935, in Augusta County, VA.

Bud was retired from the Army. He was the recipient of the highest military honor, the Purple Heart. Bud served in the Army during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He was a life member of the VFW Post 6849.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Garber; his sister, Helen Cleveland and brother-in-law, Willie Ramsey.

He is survived by his companion for more than 20 years, Ruby Ingram; sister, Martha Lee Ramsey of VA; brother, Martin (Florence) Hupman of OH; nephews, Sam (Margaret) Freeze, David Freeze, Bobby and Kenny Cleveland; nieces, Eva Smartt, Mary (Doug) Cogdell, Janice (David) Smith, Susan (Todd) Mackintosh and Donna Ramsey; and sister-in-law, Letty Derryberry.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.
