Doug Alger, 51, died suddenly at home Thursday, December 19, 2013, from complications of the flu.

Known as sometimes gruff, he none-the less had a tender heart and always gave to those in need.

The owner of the Lockwood store, he had many faithful customers and tried very hard to keep the history in the establishment.

Full of life, Doug loved to build hot rods and then show them off in various car shows. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was an expert welder and worked at his welding shop in Greenfield for 15 years, Fab Unlimited.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Nanci, who was at his side at his time of death; sons, Seth Alger and Tony Velasquez; daughter, Amy Barger; mother, Eva Lou (Alvin) Bray; father, John (Debbie) Alger; brother, Jack Alger; sister, Becky Davis; grandmother, Lois Norman; nieces, Alicia Macias, Sadie Davis; nephew, T.J. Davis; honorary sister, Tassie Evans and daughter, Kaleigh Martin and a huge list of many aunts, uncles and cousins and numerous wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., fittingly at the Hungry Flats Stage at his beloved Lockwood Store.
