Elizabeth Louise Barth
Elizabeth Louise Barth, 87, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014. She was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Hammond Indiana.
Liz "Betty" was raised in Chicago, lived in Florida and moved to Southern California in the 1950's. She moved to the Salinas area over 40 years ago.
She had many jobs in her life-time - which included being a real life "Rosie the Riveter" in the Florida ship yard during World War II, a lounge singer in Chicago, a mail carrier and she ended her careers at the Monterey County Housing Authority.
She is survived by her children, Jack (Donna) Hornberger of Willmington, IL, Scott Sanders of Southern California, Joetta Fulgenzi of Greenleaf, ID, Jerry (Joyce) Barth of Salinas, Harry G. Barth of Fair Oaks, Sandy Barth of Marina and daughter-in-law, Patti Barth of New Port Richey, FL. She has 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry E.; sister, Charlean; daughter, Carrie Sue and son, Michael.
The family would like to thank Maria Perez-Martinez for her loving care. We would also like to thank the ICU doctors and nurses at the Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital for their care at the end of her life.
At her request, there will not be any formal services. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to Alcoholics Anonymous or SPCA or Madonna del Sasso Church.
