Harry Allen Knowles

Harry A. Knowles passed away at his home Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 19, 1918, in Coalinga.

He graduated from Salinas High School and also Hartnell College. He was a member of Salinas Lodge No. 204 F & AM.

He served in the Army Aircorp in World War II in the South Pacific.

Harry and Dolores enjoyed the Salinas Trailer Club and were members for 44 years. After Harry retired in 1982, he and Dolores worked in the summer at Lake Tahoe for more than 20 years at Tahoe Valley Campground and made many lifelong friends.

They took many wonderful trips to Maine, Washington D.C., Virginia Beach, Branson and South Dakota to see Mt. Rushmore and many other places.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Berryman and Hattie Lee Knowles; sister, Harriet Abbott; and brothers, Samuel Knowles and Joseph Knowles.

Harry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dolores Knowles; daughters, Janet Hamlet and Sherrie Isaac; grandchildren, Tara (Shawn) Meyers of Lakeside, Jason (Kris) Hamlet of Salinas, Jill Isaac of Los Angeles, Rachel Isaac of Salinas; great-grandchildren, Heather Meyers and Madison Meyers of Lakeside, Christian Hamlet and Brandon Hamlet of Salinas; sisters, Annie Mori of Union City, Mary (James) Watts of Fresno, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA. 93901.
