Isomi Doyal Obituary

Isomi Doyal

Isomi Doyal, 64, of Salinas, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012. She was born January 8, 1948, in the Town of Innai Cho, Usa City, in Oita Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. She was born to Masatoshi and Ayako Ukishiro.

Isomi was a graduate of Toyo Women's College and of Pasadena Nazarene College. She later earned a Master's Degree.

Her name in Japanese meant that even if her clothes were simple, her heart was beautiful. She was both beautiful inside and out. Her family's history went back 800 years. They were descendants of the ruling Taira (Heike) clan and of an emperor. She was proud of her heritage but was willing to lose all of that when she became a child of God. Converting from Buddhism and Shinto to Christianity was not something she did lightly. She had to leave home and rent a room to attend a good high school in the city and became very lonely. She was reading Western literature, like War and Peace and she kept reading about a God of love, who was personal, caring and tender hearted to His creation. She read about God's love being so great that He planned to save us by sending Jesus Christ to die for the rebellion, rejection and ignoring of God with the result that human culture and conscience became corrupted. She gave her heart and life to Jesus Christ and was deeply dedicated to serving God and others. She taught at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville for 17 years.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amy Doyal and her brother, Kyoji Ukishiro.

Isomi is survived by her husband, George Doyal; her son, Danny Doyal and by two brothers in Japan, Yoichi and Noboru Ukishiro.

Services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Lincoln Avenue Presbyterian Church, at 536 Lincoln Avenue, between Salinas High School and the YMCA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to Lincoln Avenue Presbyterian Church, 536 Lincoln Ave., Salinas, CA 93901.
