Jose Vela Banuelos
Jose V. Banuelos, 85, of Salinas, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012. He was born April 19, 1927, in Jalisco Mexico.
He came to the U.S. at the age of 17 and worked for the Bracero program. He was married in 1950 and later he and his wife, Cruz, had three children. Jose was a self-employed sugar beet harvester for 50 years until he retired. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, watching baseball, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a wise man, who offered advice to those he loved. He will be missed dearly!
He was preceded in death by his wife, Cruz Banuelos.
Jose is survived by his daughters, Leticia (Serafin) Tinajero of Salinas and Maria E. (Jose) Clemente of Salinas; son, Joe (Monica) Banuelos Jr of Salinas; two sisters, one brother, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, November 11, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday, November 12, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.
Rosary was held Monday, November 12, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., at the Struve and Laporte Chapel.
Funeral Mass was held Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., at Madonna del Sasso Catholic Church, 320 E. Laurel Dr., Salinas, CA 93906.
Entombment followed at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907.
