San Luis Obispo
Leslie Kathleen lost her courageous battle against cancer Sunday, September 15,2013. Leslie was born and raised in Salinas. She graduated from Salinas High School. She went on to study Communications at UCSB and attended Semester at Sea where her love of travel blossomed. Leslie made San Luis Obispo her home. She loved the community and, along with her husband, volunteered and supported many local charities. Leslie and Mac were avid travelers, going to India with Rotary International Polio Eradication Team, Southern US for Katrina Relief and then to South Asia for Tsunami Relief. She was known to be an energetic and motivated entrepreneur. Her enthusiasm for her work was unbridled and infectious. For nearly 20 years she owned and operated Coverings, a popular women's clothing store. Leslie was proud of her role in bringing the latest contemporary fashion to SLO. Work often took her to New York City where she enjoyed Broadway, Central Park and scoring the latest designer fashions. Her greatest joy came from walking the beaches of San Felipe, Mexico with her beloved Chihuahuas, Harrison and Felipe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ione Fahey Cameron and Walter Cameron.
Leslie is survived by her husband Michael "Mac" McNamara; sister, Sydney (Jeff) Wasson of Salinas; nephews, Corey Wasson of Upland and Garrett Wasson of Salinas; great aunt, Gloria Spina, also Aunts and Uncles Jeanette (Tom) Bennett, Syd (Larry) Hope and John (Vicki) Fahey.
