Matthew Steven Adrian
Our beloved Son, Brother, and Friend, Matthew, passed far before his time and unexpectedly Saturday, April 12, 2014, in a tragic accident. Matthew was born Feb. 10, 1988, in Salinas.
The son of David and Lisa Adrian, he grew up in Salinas graduating from Salinas High School. One of his many talents and passions led him to Florida to attend Professional Golfers Career College in Winter Garden, FL. He graduated in 2011 to begin competing and continued to golf in championship style with his family, friends and associates. Matthew was a natural athlete and his sense of humor brought joy to all who knew him.
Matthew worked in sales for Sunsation Farms where he grew professionally and faced new challenges the same way he approached life with enthusiasm, optimism, and tenacity. He lived his brief life in this world to the fullest and experienced more than most ever will including travelling throughout Australia and New Zealand with family. He loved the SF Giants, camping and hiking, snowboarding, golfing, the board game Risk, driving fast cars and motorcycles, and the color blue.
Matthew loved life. In spite of being diagnosed and suffering from a painful and debilitating illness recently, he was, in his usual style, positive, eager to win, and brave. He set an amazing example for everyone around him by living an authentic life. His words were supported by the authority of his actions.
Matthew is survived by his loving parents, David P. Adrian and Lisa Adrian of Monterey; his brothers, David P. Adrian II of Monterey and Paul A. Adrian of Tarzana; his grandparents, Janice Adrian of Merredin, Australia, Steve J. Alderete of Salinas and Carole J. Alderete of La Canada. Matthew leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and loved ones. He is greatly missed and will never be forgotten.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. and Rosary Vigil will begin at 7:00 p.m., at San Carlos Cathedral in Monterey. Mass will be take place at the same location on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at 9:30 a.m., with a Celebration of Life following. Matthew's favorite color was blue. In his honor, we encourage those attending his services wear blue.
