Reny Enriquez, 60, passed away peacefully Monday, April 29, 2013, at his Salinas residence. Born in the Philippines, Reny was a graduate of North Salinas High School and went on to receive his secondary degree from San Jose State and a masters from Pepperdine University.
After obtaining his teaching credential, he went on to teach at North Salinas and North Monterey County High Schools before moving into the private sector where he spent the better part of the last 20 years as a local produce broker.
Reny is best described as a generous man, forever young at heart and full of energy. A man who found immense joy in spending time with his family, tending to his flowers and watering his front lawn almost every afternoon. In his spare time, he was active in coaching youth baseball, spent time as an assistant coach at Pasadena City College, and as head coach at Palma High School. All who knew and loved Reny will miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Belen Enriquez.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Cathleen, and their three children, Nicholas of Salinas, Courtney of Carlsbad and Noble of Redwood City; as well as his brothers, Frank (Orlanda) Enriquez, Norman (Jay) Enriquez and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Celebration will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1 Railroad Ave., Spreckels. "Aloha attire" is requested.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church's Heart and Soul Program, P.O. Box 7158, Spreckels, CA 93962. Heart and Soul is a program that Reny actively participated in to feed the less fortunate and give a hand up to those in our community.
His family would like to thank Dr. Norman Rosen, Dr. Gus Halamandris, Dr. Kevin Fisher, Dr. Shelzrad Aziz, Dr. Jennifer Clarke, and all of their staff; VNA Hospice as well as Fr. Roy Shelley for all of their great care to him.
