Bubba G. Scotch

DJ Legend Bubba G Scotch, 52, of Salinas, passed Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Stanford Hospital.

He worked for MV Transit. He was an influential DJ and radio host for KHDC for 34 years. A pioneer of the scene, he mentored many DJ's and recording artists. He was loved by the community and known as the peoples DJ. His eccentric stage presence, turntable mixing and entertaining MC skills would light up a stage. He earned his black belt in Tai Kwon Do at the age of 16. He had a passion for all types of music looking for the perfect beat. He was a devoted loving husband to Christina and an amazing and protective father to his daughters. He truly loved the Lord Jesus with all his heart and soul.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Christina; loving daughters, Madonna, Teena Marie Varela and Desiree Renee (Marco) Varela-Gonzales; mother, Carmen; brothers, Guadalupe, Jose (Jenny) Varela; sisters, Juana (Javier) Carillo, Maria Pratt, Theresa Benavides and Delhi Lowe; many nieces and nephews that he truly cherished.

Visitation will be held 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Evening service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Celebration Church, 10 Simas St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at Celebration Church, 10 Simas St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
