Irene Howard, 78, a homemaker of Salinas, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2014, due to complication from a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Vatterstetten, Germany. It was there where she met the love of her life, Forrest B. Howard, and they were married 47 years before he preceded her in death in 2002.
Over the years, Irene enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, baking and listening to music.
She was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Marina in the 1990's.
Her love for her family was unwavering and her family's love for her was mutual. She was simply the best.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Lee M. Howard, in 2006.
Mrs. Howard is survived by sons, Harrison (Uni) Howard of Seaside, Michael (Janelle) Howard of Ripon; daughters, Caecilie (Obed Montez) Howard of Chualar, Clarissa (Donald) Tyacke of Greenfield, Melissa Howard of Salinas;and grandchildren, Alexander Howard, Michael Allen and Sean Osborne, all of Ripon.
A private burial took place at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
