Jose Cruz Perez
Jose Cruz Perez, 77, resident of Salinas, born Sept. 14, 1936, went to heaven Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
A professional tailor since 17, he worked stints in the Chicago meat packing industry as well as the lettuce fields of Salinas (during which he marched with Cesar Chavez and the UFW); working hard to provide for his wife and six children with much tender, loving care. He impacted family, friends and strangers, winning hearts over with his beautiful, happy/laughing personality, good nature and big dimpled smile. An avid futbol and boxing fan, born in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, he was very proud of having become a faithful and productive citizen of the United States.
Cruz is survived by his wife, Maria Felicitas and his children, Esperanza (Mark) Kruspodin, Chuy (Moses) Torres, Chayo (Mike) Fajardo, Carmen (Agustin) Ruelas, Joaquin (Olga) Perez and his youngest son, Johnny "Yoni" Perez. His grandchildren, Rolie, Omar, Jacquie, Tony, Becky, Felicia, Samm, Lorenzo, Danny, Andrea, Matthew, Vincent, Karina, Aliza, Nicho and entire family will miss him dearly and with heavy hearts accept that he is now in a better place in the company of God.
