Delia Y. Aguilar Obituary

Delia Y. Aguilar

It is with great sadness we share the loss of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Delia Y. Aguilar, on Thursday, May 1, 2014. She graduated from Douglas High School. Although she was born in Douglas, AZ on Sept. 11th, she moved to Salinas in 1953 with her husband, Angel C. Aguilar and their first three children. She fought a valiant battle to stay with us but knew it was time to join her son and parents for eternal life and peace.

Having seven children kept her busy with Cub Scouts, Blue Birds, Camp Fire Girls, Roosevelt Elementary School PTA (various officer positions), State of California PTA Board, high school band, and her daughter's twirling program. She enjoyed attending all school activities and extracurricular activities for her children.

Delia worked for Simplot Foods while simultaneously working as the Recording Secretary for the Teamsters Union Local 890, for 17 years. Prior to retirement she was office manager for Aguilar and Associates for 17 years.

Delia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Angel C. Aguilar and her seven children, Linda Aguilar, Angel A. Aguilar, Evelyn Hanna (David, Sr.) Elizabeth Aguilar, Cynthia Aguilar, and Delia J. Aguilar; 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry D. Aguilar; parents, Francisco and Frances Ybarra; brother, Alfredo Ybarra and other loving family members.

Delia loved to dance and enjoyed every kind of music. It was not uncommon for her and her husband to clear a dance floor.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Carlson, Dr. Frank Ganzhorn and the staff at SVMH ICU unit for all their medical assistance and compassion.
