Danna Faye Herzog
Danna Faye Herzog, a former resident of Salinas, peacefully passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014. She was 80 years old. Danna was born Nov. 19, 1933 in Plains, TX, where she spent much of her youth.
Her family later moved to Salinas where she graduated from high school in 1952. She attended Hartnell College in 1953 and then worked as a bookkeeper and teller for the American Trust Company. In 1957, she began a 28 year career with the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company (AT&T), where she held a variety of positions ranging from service representative to assistant staff manager.
She was married to Gerald Herzog from 1954 to 1974. They lived in Salinas and had no children. Danna moved to Fresno for work in 1976, and then to the San Francisco Bay area in 1978. She moved back to Fresno in 1989 where she lived for 24 years before moving to an assisted living community in Sunnyvale.
She will be remembered by all as a devoted and loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, great-great aunt, and a cherished friend with a wonderful sense of humor and passion for living each day to the fullest.
Danna was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Jackie Hufhines, and her brother, Dr. Donald Hufhines.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Jacquelyn Hohlbein of Los Altos and Denise Hufhines of Woodland Hills; nieces, Kimberly (Stephen) Motzny of San Jose and Tamara Winters of St. Helena; four great nephews and nieces; and a great-great nephew and niece.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Garden of Memories Chapel, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
