Jack J. Little

Jack J. Little, 56, of Brawley, passed away Monday, May 26, 2014. Born in Los Angeles, he spent his childhood in Hollister and Salinas.

He graduated from Palma High School, attended Sonoma State University and received his Masters Degree from National University. Jack moved to Brawley where he became a high school teacher and taught history, economics and government. Most recently he pursued his dream of teaching at the college level and taught history at Imperial Valley College.

Jack had an eclectic set of interests. Because of his love of history, he collected antiques, old movies and spent many hours researching our family ancestry and documenting his own life experiences. Jack also loved Hollywood. He was a member of Reel Cowboys, a non-profit Western Film and TV appreciation organization, and he had a small part in an indie film titled, "What Have I Done?" Jack had a passion for travel. In his early 30's, he drove his Toyota Corolla across the United States visiting as many states and historical monuments as possible. Years later, he traveled to Europe exploring WW II monuments and sailing home on the Queen Mary II. He was in the process of planning his next trip to Europe, not realizing his next trip was a bit further away.

Jack was most passionate about his family and friends. He is survived by a mother he adored, Dora Little; a sister and brother-in-law he loved, Mary Ann Little and Nick Turner; nephews and nieces he cherished, Jack Turner, Carly Turner, Delaney Turner, Nicholas Turner, and many cousins he treasured.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Blessed Edmund Rice Chapel at Palma School, 919 Iverson St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Burial will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93907.

Celebration of Life will be held after all services at the American Legion Hall, 14 W. Laurel Dr., Salinas.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Jack to the alma mater he loved, Palma High School.
