Geneva B. Isla
Geneva Baldeo Isla, 88, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, in Salinas. She was born May 4, 1926, in Balaoan, La Union, Philippines.
Geneva graduated from Baguio City College was an elementary teacher in the Philippines before coming to the United States. She previously worked as a Teacher's Aide and was a Foster Grandparent with the Sherwood School Headstart Program for more than 18 years. She was a parishioner of the St. Mary of the Nativity Church of Salinas.
Geneva is survived by her sons, Flory "Tino" Isla, Jr. (Christina) and Robert Isla; granddaughter, Norah Gabriella Isla and sister, Rosalina Salarzon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Flory Isla, Sr.; sisters, Eufracia Ojascastro and Felicidad Morales; and brothers, Alfredo, Hermoso, Pacifico and Aurelio Baldeo.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 and also from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, with a Rosary recital at 7 p.m., all at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at the St. Mary of the Nativity Church, 424 Towt St., Salinas, CA 93905.
Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
