Dr. Rowe P. Moore


Dr. Rowe P. Moore, 86, passed away peacefully at home Sunday, September 23, 2012, after a short illness. His wife of 35 years, Margaret (Herrera) Moore; daughters, Roanne, Jana and son-in-law, Randy, were by his side. Dr. Moore was born in a quaint Victorian Village in Glyndon, Maryland, the son of Thomas Emmett Moore and Mildred Price Moore. Hew was delivered by his grandfather, Dr. Thomas Rowe Moore. His great grandfather, Dr. Ben Price was also a physician. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Moore; his mother, Mildred Price Moore and his brother, Emmett Moore.

Rowe joined the Army Air Force at the age of 18 and became a radio operator on a B-29 Bomber and was promoted to sergeant from 1943 to 1946.

Dr. Moore attended Temple Medical School where he obtained his Medical Doctorate in 1953. He obtained his Bachelors degree at Western Maryland College. In his professional life, Rowe got his residency in urology in Miami, Florida, F.A.C.S. in San Francisco, American Board of Urology, A.M.T.A. He was on the Medical Staff at General Hospital of Monterey Co. He was a member of Monterey County Medical Society, CMA, A.M.A.

Rowe P. Moore M.D..F.A.C.S. had his own private practice and was on the staff of Memorial Hospital from 1953 until he retired in 2005. Rowe loved being active. His passion was sports. He enjoyed Lacrosse, Wrestling, Tennis and was captain of the swim team in prep-school and college. He enjoyed gardening, especially his citrus trees. Rowe had a passion for history and love for his family history.

Dr. Moore is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; his daughters, Roanne (John) Vanderveen, Jana (Randy) Byrd; son, Rowe II (Cindy) Moore; stepdaughter, Becky (Jim) Reyes and 10 loving grandchildren. Dr. Moore had a zest for life, a keen sense of humor, a love for medicine, his country and his family. He is greatly loved and we will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal St., Salinas, CA 93901.

Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, 830 Padre Drive, Salinas, CA 93901.
