Kathy Dearing was born in Buffalo, New York. After receiving her Bachelor of Science Degree in Foods and Nutrition from Marygrove College in Detroit, MI, she entered the US Army as a commissioned officer. She informed her parents she was driving to California with "a friend", packed her cat in the car, and drove until she reached The Presidio of San Francisco. There, she completed her Dietetic Internship at Letterman General Hospital and became a Registered Dietician. She met her husband in San Francisco, married in 1966, and transferred to Silas B. Hayes Hospital in Fort Ord in 1967. She proudly served her country for six years and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain six days before the birth of her first child.
Kathy was the Food Service Director of Monterey Peninsula Unified School District for twenty years. Eighteen years ago she discovered her true joy, tax preparation while working for H & R Block. She was studying to become an enrolled agent. Kathy's adventurous spirit led her all over the world.
