Raymond Mata Chavana
Raymond Mata Chavana, 72, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, in Salinas. He was born March 14, 1940, in San Antonio, TX.
Raymond moved from San Antonio, TX to the Salinas Valley in 1966. For more than 40 years, he worked in farming in the ag industry. He loved life, people, especially his children. He is now with the Lord, his mother, brother and son. Raymond will be greatly missed.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Petra E. Chavana; daughters, Rosie (Armando) Amaya, Magdalena (Cesar) Cervantes, Terry (Willie) Castro and Leticia (Servando) Zagal; sons, Manuel (Elaine) Moreno and Ricardo (Alma) Chavana; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maria, Consuelo and Elsie, all of San Antonio, TX also survive.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 1 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary recital at 7 p.m., all at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
A Funeral Mass will take place Friday, January 25, 2013 at 11 a.m., at the St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church, 424 Towt St., Salinas, CA 93905.
An Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott St., Salinas, CA 93901.
