Teresa Maldonado, 80, longtime resident of Salinas, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at her home. She was born April 24, 1932, in Del Rio, TX.
Teresa was retired from the Salinas Union High School District where she worked in food services for more than 12 years.
Teresa was dedicated to her loving family. She was an active member of Madonna del Sasso parish and she volunteered with many local charities. Teresa was happiest when helping others.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Gilbert Maldonado of Salinas; sons, Gerald, Gilbert, Jr. and Julian Maldonado, all of Salinas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers; four sisters also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Carmen Avila.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Rosen and his staff as well as the Heartland Hospice team for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 from 1 to 9 p.m., with a Rosary recital at 7 p.m., all at Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Road, Salinas, CA 93905.
A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at 1 p.m., at Madonna del Sasso Catholic Church, 320 E. Laurel Dr., Salinas, CA 93906.
Burial to follow services at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA 93905.
