Rosemary Andrus, 92, of Salinas, after spending a wonderful day with her children, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 17, 2013. She was born December 14, 1921 on a farm in South Dakota.
Rosemary was the 11th of 12 siblings. At the age of 17 she moved to Salinas with her sister Kay & brother-in-law Robert McPeek. Finding employment with a local optometrist, she began her new life. Eventually meeting and marrying Alva Andrus they established Andrus Jewelers in 1952 and shared a blessed life for 61 years.
Rosemary instilled in her family a love of the ocean. She enjoyed long walks on the beach and hiking at Point Lobos. Her life revolved around her children and dear friends. Playing bridge with the girls was one of her favorite pastimes. To all that came in contact with her, Rosemary leaves memories of a caring, loving and generous woman.
She leaves behind four children Lesley, Mark (Mary), Jeff (Liz), Stephen (Katie) eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Villa Serra for their compassion and care of
our mother these past few years.
