Michael Guy Peterson
Michael Guy Peterson, 59, passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, May 31, 2013, at his home. He was born June 25, 1953 and was a lifelong resident of Salinas.
As a young man, he enlisted in the Army and was called to duty to fight in the Vietnam War from 1971 to 1972. Being a soldier was something Mike did well. In 1972, he was honorably discharged. He was a helicopter door-gunner, surviving a few helicopter crashes due to enemy artillery fire, and then serving as a Special Operative, before going home. Being a veteran was his most proud service to the people of the USA. After Vietnam, he was a produce inspector for many years, loving the job that he did well.
Mike was a lover of animals and a breeder of dalmatians, his favorite canine. He also collected Civil War and WWII artifacts. Mike was generous to his favorite charities, protecting and preserving the interests of animal sanctuaries and especially the historical battlegrounds, and also the Native American Indian foundations.
He will be missed by his family and friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; mother, Patricia Caldwell; brother, Steven; nephew, Joseph; daughter, Jennifer Wigin and three grandchildren.
Mike's final arrangements were done at Struve and Laporte. No services will be held. He was cremated and awaits his final resting place in a veteran cemetery close to his hometown.
Please contact Jacqueline for names of charities to donate in his memory at 831-998-0077.
