Castus Horton Obituary
Castus Eugene Horton Sr. "Cactus," age 73, of Coulson Church Road, Austinville, VA., passed away Wednesday, April 23rd, 2014 from injuries received in a farming accident. He was born January 27th 1941 in Carroll County, VA., the son of the late John W. & Pearlie Alice Beasley Horton. He was one of the most hard working, free hearted, generous men to ever be placed on God's green earth. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pam Horton and several sisters and brothers. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vera Jean Horton of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Horton Bolt & husband Mark of Hillsville VA; a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Castus Eugene Horton Jr & wife Marcia of Austinville VA; five grand children, Aleighthia Bolt, Remington "Cole" Bolt, Castus Levi Horton, Farris Rebekah Horton, Rachel Caitlyn Horton; one great grandchild, Elleighana Hall; three sisters, Mae Carter of Austinville VA, Artie Belle Primm of Hillsville VA, Rubye Edwards of Hillsville VA; a dear friend, David Hill. Bunches & bunches of nieces and nephews also survive. A funeral service will be held Sunday April 27th at 4:00 PM at the Morning Star (formerly Flatwoods) Church of God, officiating will be Rev. Jeff Pickett, Pastor Rodney Christman, & Rev. Angela Lineberry. Interment will follow in the Beasley Cemetery in Carroll County. The family will receive friends Sunday at the Church, from 1:00 PM until service time. The family asks that those who prefer may make memorial donations to the Pam Horton Memorial Scholarship Fund, in c/o Teresa Bolt, 85 Stag Lane, Hillsville VA 24343. Uncle Eugene... I miss you already!! You were such a SPECIAL and AWESONE man. Your values were so strong and I always admired you so! I will miss you making me sausage and gravy when we visited from Tucson. My prayers to Aunt Vera, Teresa & Cas and their families at this tough time.
