Violet L. Windham, 86, West Long Ave., DuBois, formerly of West Palm Beach, Fla., died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Christ the King Manor.
Born Sept. 1, 1927, in DuBois, she was the daughter of the late Michael S. and Kathryn A. Pruzinsky Krishart.
She was married to Charles C. Mecca, who preceded her in death Nov. 24, 1970. She then married Clyde T. Windham. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 1980.
Violet worked at McCrory's 5 & 10 and Jeffers Electronics while she lived in DuBois. While living in West Palm Beach, Fla., she was the assistant manager of the Palm Beach Inlet Dock, a teacher of dance, a legal secretary for Clyde Windham, a cocktail waitress at Club Flamingo and worked for the Moose Club
for 15 years.
She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in DuBois, and a 50-year member of St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in West Palm Beach. She was a 50-year member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 938, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in West Palm Beach. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lake Worth, Fla.
Violet was especially proud of her Slovak heritage.
She is survived by her son, Michael Mecca of DuBois; four sisters: Geraldine Mitravich and Madolene Ferut, both of DuBois, Irene Acuff of Charleston, S.C., and her twin sister, Viola Fischer of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, Michael Krishart of DuBois; three grandchildren: Charles, Michael and Kari Jaloski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Irene Jaloski.
Visitation will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Kresinski as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
