Barbara C. Hinderliter Roper, 81, Big Flats, N.Y., formerly of DuBois, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
Barbara was born Feb. 24, 1934, in DuBois, the daughter of the late Franklin and Mary Loretta McMahon Hinderliter. She married her husband, Richard C. Roper, on Oct. 31, 1959. They would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary Oct. 31, 2015.
Barbara loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Richard C. Roper; daughters and son-in-law: Karen Keenan and David Davie of Erin, N.Y., and Kim and Christopher Dietterich of Big Flats, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, Richard M. and Jinhee Roper of Alpine, N.Y.; grandson, Kyle J. Gush and Jessica Markle; four great-granddaughters: Mallory, Bailey, Delilah and Kylee Gush; sisters, Claudia Lyle and Zita Hinderliter; brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Carol Hinderliter; brother-in-law, George Harvey; sister-in-law, Mitzi Hinderliter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Kaye and Jack Guthridge, Michael and Debra Roper, and Becky and Terry Parsons; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends.
Barbara was also preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Harvey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joanne and Joseph Castliglione and Mary and William (Scotty) McManus; brother, Edward Hinderliter; and brother-in-law, Martin Lyle.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4-7 p.m. today (Sunday, April 26, 2015) at the Lynch Funeral Home, 318 W. Broad St., Horseheads, N.Y. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 27, at St. Mary Our Mother Church, 816 W. Broad St., Horseheads, N.Y.
