Beulah Ruth Uhrin, 79, of New Bethlehem, went to be with her Lord at 11:40 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016, surrounded by her loving family following a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born June 14, 1936, in Collins Center, New York, she was the daughter of the late Reverend George H. Schroder and Catherine B. Wermuth Schroder.
She graduated from the Rushford Central School in Rushford, New York in 1954 and received a full scholarship to attend Roberts Wesleyan College in North Chili, New York, graduating with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in 1958.
Beulah furthered her education with a Master's Degree from the University of Rochester. She taught mathematics in the Gowanda, New York school district for several years and was a substitute teacher in many of the school districts in which she had lived.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Reverend John Uhrin, Jr. of New Bethlehem. The couple would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 30th of this year.
Also surviving are three children: Curtis P. Uhrin (Malia) of Brookville; Julie L. Davis of Delmont and Rebecca J. Tibaldi (Scott) of Glenwood, Maryland; six wonderful grandchildren: Erin Bernhardt, Nathan Uhrin, Leigh Ann Davis, Jared Uhrin and Chad Uhrin, all from the Pittsburgh area and A. J. Tibaldi from Glenwood, Maryland and five great grandchildren: Alexia and Alana Haberstroh, Bowen and Morrigan Jane "M.J." Henry and Kaylee Uhrin.
Beulah was a deeply spiritual person, helping and supporting her husband, John, in pastoral ministry in the Western Pennsylvania, Central Pennsylvania and Western Ohio Conferences of the United Methodist Church. John and Beulah served together in the following United Methodist Charges: Homecamp/Luthersburg/Salem; Halfmoon/Stormstown, Gray's Woods, Zion; Sugar Valley, Fairhaven Ohio; Woodland Ave. Punxsutawney, Hollsopple and New Bethlehem, where they retired.
Beulah enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and Sudoku, knitting, canning and freezing the bounty from the garden. She delighted in finding her spring crocuses, daffodils and lilacs blooming, her daily devotional Bible studies, keeping in touch through the internet with her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities and accomplishments and spending time with her husband at their camp in East Hickory.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an older brother, Clarence Schroder.
