Ethel M. Thunberg, 99, DuBois, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, at Christ the King Manor.
Born April 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Hudson and Mae (Crytser) Fridley.
She married Arnold C. Thunberg on May 11, 1946, in Port Allegany. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2001.
Ethel graduated from the DuBois Area High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Tawasi Group, and Widow's Club in DuBois. Her passion for music fueled her love of singing and dancing. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and spending time with family.
Ethel is survived by two daughters, Gloria (Marvin) Furusho of Leesburg, Va., and Carol (Richard) Berry of Rochester, N.Y.; nine grandchildren: Bryon, Jeff, and Brad Wilson of DuBois, Robert Wilson, Adam Furusho, and Sheree Furusho of Virginia, David Furusho of Indiana, and Correna Bailey and Lisa Berry of New York; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Johnson and Mildred Kellner; a brother, Herbert C. Fridley; and a granddaughter, Audry Furusho.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Dan Smith officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
