Eugene L. Mennitti, 72, 303 4th St., Reynoldsville, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at Penn Highland DuBois hospital.
Born Nov. 11, 1941, in Wishaw, he was the son of the late Eugene R. Mennitti and Agnes M. Vizza Mennitti. His father preceded him in death Oct. 6, 2003 and his mother preceded him in death March 6, 2004. He was married to Dorothy J. Campbell Mennitti on Feb. 25, 1968. She survives.
He was a 1961 graduate of Reynoldsville High School and was a retired mechanic for Conrail with 36 years of service.
He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Reynoldsville, National Guard, American Legion Post 392 and F.O. Eagles 540.
Gene was an avid hunter and enjoyed doing things for his family and friends.
He enjoyed dirt track racing, NASCAR and building race car engines.
Survivors include a son, Darren (Tracy) Mennitti of Reynoldsville; granddaughters, Megan Nicole and Morgan Jane Mennitti of Reynoldsville; a brother, Philip P. (Shirley) Mennitti of Reynoldsville; two sisters, Darlene F. (Thomas) Uplinger and Regina A. DeFelice, all of Reynoldsville.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael; a granddaughter, Richelle; and a grandson, David.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home, Reynoldsville. The rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Marys Catholic Church in Reynoldsville with the Rev. Dr. Richard Tomasone officiating. Burial will be in St. Marys Catholic Cemetery, Reynoldsville.
