Freda E. Heriger, 90, Henderson Street, Brookville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, at her home.
Born Aug. 9, 1924, in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late Clair Wallace Haag and Katherine Eshbaugh Haag. She was married to Robert R. Heriger on Dec. 24, 1942, in Brookville. He preceded her in death Oct. 17, 2010.
Freda started working as a crossing guard, a cafeteria worker and retired as a teachers aide for special needs children after 20 years for the Brookville Area School District.
She was a member of the Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS).
She loved crocheting, reading books, making crafts and watching game shows.
Freda was an avid Pirates, Steelers and Penguins fan. She loved Pittsburgh sports teams, but what she loved most was her children and grandchildren. Her life revolved around all children in general.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanna Donaldson, (Walter) of Franklin and Roberta Garner of Brookville; two sons, Stephen Heriger (Ellen) of Pittsburgh and Kerry Heriger (Joyce) of Florida; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Blair and Miles Haag; and three sisters: Mary Marino, Helen McKinley and Florence Haag.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Meade Chapel Cemetery, Knox Township, Jefferson County.
